Great start to the new series.
I hesitate to add to the volume of words written about this show, but anyway.
It is interesting to reflect thought that in essence MM is really just a soap opera. Very little of consequence really happens and of course it's set in a different era but what really marks it our as very different is its pacing.
Characters and story lines develop over multiple episodes. Some are even red herrings. Sometimes the camera lingers in a way that would be unthinkable in most TV programmes and certainly all films these days.
It raises the audience's participation from that of being a mere observer to that of being a yoyeur...and that's why we love it.
We are really in these people's lives rather then just watching them.
