It is pretty much always said that double breasted jackets flatter the slimmer frame. However, what this picture amply (geddit?) demonstrates is that it's not the clothes that wear the man but the man that wears the clothes. The guy on the right looks so utterly at home in his DB jacket that it works. Bravo!
On a separate tack, check out the white buttons in this picture. I predict that white buttons will be seen a lot more over the coming months.
